Thursday night will be Raft Movie Night.  The movie will be the Summer of 1975 classic movie Jaws.  Please note that the movie is rated PG but that was before the advent of the PG-13 rating.  The movie will start at about 8:30 PM or when it is dark enough for the projector.  The movie is about 2 hours long.

CALLING ALL CANNONBALLERS (AND PIZZA EATERS)

The Woodley Cannonball Contest is just a little over a week, so start practicing those cannonballs and can openers now!  Judges will be scoring on technical difficulty, artistic impression, execution, and biggest splash.  Okay, we all know it is really all about the biggest splash.  The contest will begin at 5:00 on Sunday, August 25, and will be followed by the Pizza Party.  Sign-up sheets for the contest and pizza party along with more information about these events will be posted at the pool.  Walk-ons are welcome for the Cannonball Contest, but you will need to sign-up and pay in advance for the pizza and salads.  Pizzas and salads are discounted for this event.  If you are interested in judging, please reply to this email.

WOODLEY BOARD NOMINATIONS

We are looking for a few people willing to step forward and run for the open Woodley Board positions at the Annual Shareholder Meeting in just a few weeks.  New people with new ideas and perspectives are important for the Board and the entire Woodley community.  Please reply to this email or contact any Board member directly if you are interested.  Board members are elected as general members to the Board at the Shareholder Meeting.  Positions are then determined by the Board at the first meeting.  We anticipate the Secretary position being open this year.  The position involves taking the meeting minutes, preparing share certificates, completing other general correspondence, and assisting with other projects or committees.  The Board generally meets once a month on the 2nd Tuesday for about 2 hours (We usually take a break in December).

GIANT GIFT CARDS FUNDRAISER

Buy your Giant grocery gift cards from Woodley and help the pool earn money for capital improvements.  To buy cards, contact Carol Ofiesh at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  Cards are sold in $100 denominations and can be purchased with cash or check.  For every $100 card you buy, you get $100 in groceries at Giant and Woodley gets $5 from Giant.  Last year, the pool made close to $1,000 with just a few families buying occasionally.  Funds raised go towards keeping membership dues low despite rising costs.
